General:Acai is a type of palm tree that is usually found in the lower amazons, in particular in the Brazilian state of para. The palm trees, which grow in bushes, can reach a height of 25 m. Their olive green leaves are large; the numerous blossoms are yellow and every plant produces around 3-6 KG fruit a year.In former times, the acai berries were only an important component of the diet of the population in the flood lands of the lower amazons. At the end of the nineties, acai enjoyed a boom fired by the fitness and lifestyle oriented population of the large Brazilian cities. As a component of healthy natural diets and thanks to the development of new innovative products, acai has also found its way into the European market.The fruit:This fruit is purple and almost black when fully ripe and is 1 to 1. 4 cm in size.
