GRADE: SFTGFOP (TIP) CLONAL-This estate was established by the British in 1899 on a high peak of Darjeeling hills, Ghoom. The estate is curtained off by misty cloud most of the time and the Tibetan name itself means "Valley behind the Clouds". The estates 500 acres, out of 1000 acres, are planted with tea bushes and the annual production is 70, 000kgs. The worlds highest railway lines runs close by and the estate has a nursery to grow saplings from the originally planted Chinese bushes more than a century old. Young tea plants are supplied by the estate to different gardens as a regular course of business for which the estate is famous too. The renowned garden, Temi in Sikkim owes gratitude for its plants to Poobong.
