5 pin Protector Module
The 5-pin Protector Modules provide excellent transient protection for all telecommunicationssystems. Modules are designed to meet specific configurations and voltagerequirements in customer premises, remote cabinets, and central office applications,protecting personnel and equipment against over- voltage and over-currentinduced on telephone lines or local ground by lightning and AC power systemfaults. Gas-Tube Protector Modules contain two/three-electrode high amperage ceramicnon radioactive gas-tube surge arresters and a fail-safe mechanism. Theseare used in areas where frequent transient over voltages are a problem or wheretightly controlled breakdown values are required. The gas-tube will recover repeatedlyfrom the over-voltage, providing 30 to 40 times longer life than the traditional.Solid-state Modules contain state-of-the-art diodes intended for use with sensitiveequipment. They are available with 4 ohm (350mA) or 20 ohm (150 mA) heat coils.The diode is a fast semiconductor switch with operating voltage nearly independentof transient rise time.
