It can be used to produce mechanical elements, such as gears, bearings, piston rings, support rings, seal rings, valve plates and abrasion-proof rings.It has high temperature resistance. PEEK has a high glass transition temperatureand melting point (334oC) and therefore can be safely used in high temperature environment. Its thermal transformation temperature is as high as 316oC, with its continuous operation temperature being 260oC.PEEK has a kind of plastics with both stiffness and ductility. It endurance underalternative stress is superior to almost all other plastics, nearly comparableto alloy materials. PEEK has excellent lubricating property, suitable for application with requirements of low coefficient of friction and resistance to abrasion. When mixed with carbon fiber and graphite, its self-lubricating properties will be further improved. PEEK has excellent resistance to chemical and it can only be dissolved by concentrated sulfuric acid. Its resistance to corrosion is similar to nickel steel. PEEK is very stable. A 1.45mm thick PEEK sample without any other flameretardant additives can have good enough fire resistance properties, even meeting the most strict fire resistance standards. PEEK has excellent peeling resistance property and therefore can be used to produce electric or electromagnetic wire with very thin cladding, which can be safely used in rigorous environments. Among all kinds of resin, PEEK has the best fatigue resistance property. PEEK has very good radiation resistance, even superior to polystyrene, which has excellent radiation resistance. It can be used to make high quality wires, which can be used in environments with an irradiation dose over 1,100Mrad. It has good resistance to hydrolysis. PEEK and its composites can keep stable in water and high voltage vapor. This kind of material has satisfactory stability when used in high temperature and high voltage water.
