It can be used to produce mechanical elements,such as gears, bearings, piston rings, support rings, seal rings, valveplates and abrasion-proof rings.It has high temperature resistance. PEEK has a high glass transition temperatureand melting point (334oC) and therefore can be safely used in high temperature environments. Its thermal transformation temperature is as high as 316oC, with its continuous operation temperature being 260oC.PEEK is a kind of plastic with both stiffness and ductility. It endurance under alternativestress is superior to almost all other plastics, nearly comparable toalloy materials.PEEK has excellent lubricating property, suitable for application with requirementsof low coefficient of friction and resistance to abrasion. When mixed with carbonfiber and graphite, its self-lubricating properties will be further improved.PEEK has excellent resistance to chemical and it can only be dissolved by concentratedsulfuric acid. Its resistance to corrosion is similar to nickel steel.PEEK is very stable. A 1.45mm thick PEEK sample without any other flame retardantadditives can have good enough fire resistance properties, even meeting the moststrict fire resistance standards.PEEK has excellent peeling resistance property and therefore can be used to produceelectric or electromagnetic wire with very thin cladding, which can be safelyused in rigorous environments.Among all kinds of resin, PEEK has the best fatigue resistance property.PEEK has very good radiation resistance, even superior to polystyrene, which hasexcellent radiation resistance. It can be used to make high quality wires, whichcan be used in environments with an irradiation dose over 1,100Mrad.It has good resistance to hydrolysis. PEEK and its composites can keep stable inwater and high voltage vapor. This kind of material has satisfactory stability whenused in high temperature and high voltage water.
