For years, fine powder separator has been used in the intermediate storage type powder preparation system of steel ball grinder in coal combustion power generation plant in China. Most of the separators are imitation to HHHorA3 type product of former USSR. The USSR files show that the separation efficiency of this type of fine powder separator can reach 87%~93%.However, it is found from the actual measurements taken in many power plants in our country that the separation efficiency is normally around 72~84% during actual operation and even lower in some plants. With lower fine powder separation efficiency, the coal powder content in flooded exhaust gas must be higher, causing more abrasion on powder discharge impellers. Whats more, a direct influence will occur on operation safety and economics of the boiler due to higher powder content in flooded gas when the flooded gas is fed into the furnace as tertiary air.East China Electrical Power Test and Research Institute has developed and launched HL-GX high-efficiency fine powder separator with a new structure by applying foreign Laise-Michelle Column Optimal Design and Grobachov Optimal Calculation, and the separator is manufactured by our company.It has been proved and attested by the Thermal Power Generation Equipment and Equipment Quality Test Center of the former Energy Administration Minister that HL-GX high-efficiency fine powder separator runs at an efficiency of 8% higher than that of the imitation separator to the former USSR HHHorA3 and a resistance loss 49% lower. The attestation authority recommends that "it shall be promoted and used for wider applications step by step".
