Coarse Powder Separator
Since 90th, many companies have followed up foreign experiences by changing the original radius coarse powder separator to axis coarse powder separator. The tremendous increase of the height and volume of axis separator has enhanced the striking and splitting function of axis baffle, therefore, the air flow path inside the separator is more rational, the resistance inside the separator is reduced, separation effects are obviously improved and a positive technical and economic result is obtained.However, in early axis I type coarse powder separator, the internal conic powder return locking unit was not properly structured and blockage often occurred, which influenced the normal operation of separator and caused severe worn-outs in some parts. In the later axis II type coarse powder separator, the internal conic powder return unit was canceled, while the striking cone in the lower cone section was changed to reversed cone. The change brought about clearly higher reliability, however, the volume utilization rate was low and some sections were seriously worn out. There were three channels in multi-channel coarse powder separator and two of them were fixed. Therefore, the coal powder granularity adjustment range was small, coal powder uniformity was bad, the internal structure was complicated, parts were seriously worn out and maintenance could be hardly conducted.To improve the performance of coarse powder separator, the Thermal Engineering Research Institute of Electrical Power Administration Ministry has developed a new series-linked double axis coarse powder separator in semi-industrial scale pilot experiment and research. Study has been conducted on the optimal structure and operation parameter and the series-connected double axis coarse powder separator is optimized in design.The series-connected double axis coarse powder separation technology has been registered as a national patent (patent no. 96235868.1) and a Third Prize for Science and Technology Advancement was awarded for this technology by Electrical Power Administration Minister in 1997. The technology passed the key scientific research project appraisal sponsored by Electrical Power Administration Minister in 1997 and received positive comments by the experts in the appraisal conference. It is believed that the technology can bring remarkable economic benefits and shall be promoted widely.
