"mooi indie 1882", that meant "indonesian beauty 1882" and was aimed at the painter who only depicted scenery romanticism, beautiful buildings and the life of indigenous people ("mooi indie" is a bahasa indonesian phrase, which translates basically as "beautiful indies").But if we look a little closer we can also find many examples of mooi indie artists who do not fit this tourist-artist stereotype.
